Summary
In a universal perspective, every other place in the world holistically has been increasing in surface solar radiation while China has a different trend in which it decreases instead. China is suffering major consequences in the climate, environment, and economy due to two deadly factors such as haze and air pollution. Both of these work together side-by-side in creating slow wind speeds and a blockage of solar radiation. When the wind slows down, the concentration of small particles of air pollution (aerosols) increase, which help increase haze and leads to solar dimming in the area.
Researchers show that China has wind speed lower than 3.5 metres per second during the day in the polluted areas that rose up air pollution and causing solar radiation to dwindle. In addition, a study also depicts that 20 per cent of the reduced surface solar radiation in China is due to the chemicals of tiny particles air pollution (aerosols), which is in turn strengthened by 20 per cent by low wind speed. The effects of having a reduction in solar radiation can bring devastating problems to many living things such as those that utilize the process of photosynthesis (i.e. plants, crops, trees, etc), the altering of the climate, and hurting the economy of businesses that rely on this energy source in a daily basis.
Reflection
I was really surprised at the fact that China was the one country that didn't receive enough sunlight. Imagine living a life in that place without a single sighting of luminosity really makes it look like it was abandoned for many years. Also, how would the people of China be able to breath in a dirty and dusky environment and the importance of having vitamin D from the sun as well. The sunlight is one of the big 5 things that living things need in order to survive. Without this major component, China may be in for a real suffering and actions must be taken to fight off haze and air pollution asap.
