Summary
After decades and decades, Tuberculosis has now caught up to HIV/AIDS which are two both deadly diseases that have caused damage to humanity according to a report recently. A 2014 statistics showed that TB (Tuberculosis) ranks 2nd while HIV/AIDS are ranked one where TB killed about 1.1 million while HIV/AIDS killed 1.2 million and an addition of 400,000 of people having both infected by TB and HIV/AIDS. Although many people have gained access to treatment to these diseases and that it also helped a lot of them survived, numbers of the money that is spent is uneven as 205 countries around the world are still fighting against Tuberculosis. The funding for HIV/AIDS are ten times larger than TB which $8 billion was used in HIV/AIDS and only $800,000 million towards TB. Also, in 2014, there were 6 million cases and compared to last year, it was less than by a 1/3rd which was 9.6 million. This proves that money can benefit countries that are in serious need for support. Due to this imbalance of the funding, only one in four were diagnosed for TB from 480,000 cases of multi-drug resistance. The reason why HIV/AIDS are more focused on is because its most common in Africa where lots of people are infected with. Overall, it suggests that the people should fund more for TB so that the people in China and India can also receive the same amount of treatment and that it can make a change.
Reflection
I am surprised at how devastating these diseases can possibly do. I also think that the main point of this article is to show us how we can prevent further deaths in countries like Africa where many poor people inhabit and struggle and as well as China and India that do not have enough economic aid to combat TB. Ways that we can stop this tragedy is by having the countries to not continue grow larger because it's the most simplest and effective way to prevent diseases from occurring in the population. Diseases are likely to happen in populations that are big because of overcrowding and lack of space. It would also be a good idea if the developed countries can provide countries that are heavily poor with financial support to be able to fight against diseases and also creating treatments with their advanced technology to give to the people that need it most.
